What’s the difference between my blog….

…and other websites related you ask?

  • SF Mural Arts does an amazing job in locating the murals in San Francisco and even has an interactive map where you can click on a neighborhood to explore the murals it has to offer. However, background information on the artwork and artists is lacking and my goal is to highlight the stories from the artist’s thought process to the mural’s meaning.
  • If you find yourself captured by a certain mural’s beauty or simply want to add an essence to a restaurant, visit Mural Arts Studio’s website and purchase a mural for yourself. This website is ran by San Francisco mural artists Les Seymour and Brenda Cole Seymour and has information about their work and history. One thing that I appreciate about this website is they offer a page that illustrates the different techniques an artist can use to put together a masterpiece. However I plan to cover a broad spectrum of San Francisco and highlight a mural that peaks a wide spectrum of peoples’ interest.
  • Another way a website goes about covering murals is offering tours and taking pictures of the pieces from start to finish. Precita Eyes Mural Arts Association’s focus is the murals in the Mission and offers tours that start from $2 to $15 (prices range based on age). This website is chalk full of the association’s message and history and does a fine job in showing pictures of murals. One thing is that information is lacking about the murals, partly due to tours offered, and I’ll provide information that is easily accessible.

The main difference is I will be supplying my readers with added information on murals and artists to not only allow San Francisco to show why it is one of the most visited cities, but also capture history still amongst us today.
